Modena

The city of Modena located in Emilia Romagna was the capital by 1598 and for several centuries even of the Duchy of Este until the birth of the Kingdom of Italy in 1859, and is also an ancient seat University and Arcivescovile. In town there are a few monuments that have been declared by UNESCO cultural heritage which are the Cathedral, the Tower Civic also called Ghirlandina and Piazza Grande. It is surrounded by two rivers the Secchia and Panaro which is very important for the city and can be seen by the presence of the Fountain of the two rivers, the sculptor Joseph Graziosi Modena, located in Largo Garibaldi. In addition Modena is divided into four districts which are the Historical Center, Crocetta, the Good Shepherd and San Faustino, each of which have some local autonomy, specific services and organs of deliberation and advice.
